About the R&R Veterans Transition Centre
The focus of the Recovery and Restoration Centre is simple. It is to assist service people to transition from the military and active service into a successful civilian life and career and in so doing help them avoid the growing challenges of mental health and other issues associated a long career in the military which often involved arduous training and/or active service and exposure to trauma. There are many organisations trating PTSD and other challenges however our major focus is on proactive prevention and avoidance through positive action and interaction.
Ex-service people have an enormous amount to offer however adjusting from a long military career to living and working in civilian life can be extremely challenging on the individual and families.
All R & R programs including the mast head Transition Program is run on a “bottom up” philosophy of listening to, involving, responding to and being guided by the participants whilst ensuring top level governance, professionalism and financial management. It is all about building on the foundation set during a miltary career and focusing upwards rather than allowing veterans to slide backwards.
The Centre is able to offer introductions to a full suite of services such as counselling, training, development and vocational guidance as well as (subject to professional vetting) providing a ‘Safe House’ for any ex-service person who is in need of support at any time.
The R & R Centre is easily accessible (only 45 minutes from Perth CBD) yet provides a private space that is integrated with and surrounded by nature, providing complete privacy for the members and one that promotes an environment that is more in-line with a relaxed rural retreat.
